It's been a long time since I played, but I always just assumed it was the pair of shears that Professor Barton had on display. Knowing my lack of observance they were probably still in place though...
I'd think that Scissorman came for those shears, but seriously, what person of his supernatual power would have to rely on only ONE pair of shears?
It's really been too long since I played Clock Tower and Clock Tower 2. x.x

The pair of shears that Barton had was just a replica. I think it was made just so Barton could observe the murder weapon. You know he was obsessed with the whole case.

I think the replica scissors Burton had were the ones Scissorman ended up using. Give his current situation, I somehow doubt he had a pair of giant scissors just lying around. So, he saw them in Burton's office and figured he would just borrow those ones. It works, since that is the first place you see him.

In Jennifer's first scenario, he already had them before they entered the University. Barton could have taken them home with him...waaaiiit a minute. Are you thinking what Im thinking? Either way. Your theory does make sense Syberia. I really never thought about how he got the scissors in the first place. I'll have to think about this.
