I was at an anime convention this weekend and there was a guy selling import games. I saw the original Super Famicom version of Clock Tower: The First Fear and had to buy it! I don't have a Famicom, but the guy said you can play it on your SNES if you break something off, but I'm gonna ask a friend of mine who is good at that kind of stuff before doing anything.

That's awesome. I know only a bit about that kind of 'breaking' stuff... I'm not really for it, since unless you actually know much what you are doing, it can mess your system up. Maybe some online tutorials could also help you... I'd tell you to look for a SFC on Ebay... but you don't have a credit card.
Anyway, those are great news Syberia!!

Was this at Tekkoshokon by any chance??
If so, you are very lucky. A friend of mine was there and was going to buy it for me but she was already out of money when she saw it.
Anyways, congratulations!

Congratulations, Obscure! I believe the part in question is the little flap-hinge over the cartridge socket of the SNES. I've never liked breaking off parts of consoles, though - I bought an adapter over the internet for $10-15. It plugs onto the cartridge, and then in turn plugs into the SNES.
Good luck!

New member here. But I finally obtained the game (Wonderswan version, but playable anyhow.) after litterally a year looking for a cartridge version. Complete with everything too.

Haha...nice! I got my SNES copy too from an anime Convention...actually, my sister and I ghetto-rigged it (meaning we dug into the system ourselves and broke off the tabs that prevent import games from being played on US SNESes) the night we came home with it and played it right afterwards. Didn't help that we were both also ecstatic for Seiken Densetsu 3 (we got that with CT. ^^()).

Look at the back of an american SNES games, they have a little slot on each side. Now,open the flap of ur SNES system and see two pieces of plastic matched up to slide in the slots of the american game cartridge.break THOSE off. That is the only thing preventing Famicom play.Enjoy.
