Since there were so many tranlation slips and things that made no sense, I was wondering if anyone here has the original Japanese version-Clock Tower: Ghost Head.

I would agree, as I own both as well...the Japanese dialogue is also almost exactly the same. Yutaka/Alyssa still says things like "It's ONLY a leg..." and "What the?! It's only an Arm?!" that she said in the English version, and the story didn't change a bit.
So really...even if you do buy it, you're really not missing much dialogue and story. If you want a better version of the game it's best to find the Drama CD. At least Yuu screams and tries to get out the door instead of calmly looking at the leg. >.< And it isn't 40 dollars, like what I paid for the Ghosthead game (I got the Drama CD for about 10 on ebay, not counting shipping).

I do own both versions and I will soon put up voice clips from CTGH on my fan site, ObscureNightmares. Alyssa is YutakaAlyssa's Japanese name is actually YĆ», not Yutaka. You can read an article I wrote about it here. It is under "Articles" and "Yuu or Yutaka?": dcj.bluemoonsea.com

I've heard both versions of the name used when people talk about it, so I've just used both names, though I know "Yu" is the official name.

Yeah, back then it was a common misconception that the Kanji of the heroine's name was Yutaka. But you would understand that the Kanji for her name doesn't even approximate Yutaka in the first place. So I really don't know where that name came up from...

I first read it in a PSM magazine back when the game was first brought out in Japan, and I always called Chinatsu "Chika-chan" for short since that's the common short name for Chinatsu.
But when I played the game I realized that was wrong too...But I sometimes slip into it occasionally...^^()

I also have both versions and actually i like "Ghost Head" more - IMHO it's voicover is MUCH better than in the "Struggle Within". But still there's a problem with japanese language - sometimes it's tough to understand everything... Why, why didn't HUMAN included an option of original japanese dialogues with english subtitle in the game?

Does the Japanese version of the guide you can unlock in the game make any more sense than the translated one in the US? It leaves a lot of questions, like...Does Alyssa have a twin? And if so, why wasn't she/he dug up too? Or was this twin already dead and now Alyssa's alter-ego? Why did Allen send the statue to Phillip because he might have seen Alyssa? He KNEW he had seen her! And why did he not question nothing happening after so long, then just go send Alyssa to stay with him?

Does Alyssa have a twin? And if so, why wasn't she/he dug up too? Or was this twin already dead and now Alyssa's alter-ego? I'm not sure how accurate it was, but I read something on a site that I can no longer locate that claimed to be a translation of the Japanese files. This site claimed that Bates WAS Alyssa's dead twin, which explains a LOT in my opinion.

In the Guide you can unlock in the game, it states that what exactly Bates is remains unknown, but that it is theorized he is either a spirit with a grudge against the Maxwell family or the spirit of Alyssa's twin.
However, there are other things that make the "twin's spirit" theory seem unlikely:
-Also in the Guide, it states that twin girls were the ones always buried alive for fear they were cursed. Bates is obviously a male.
-For Bates to be the spirit of the other twin, that twin would have to be dead. Since it is stated that the twins were both buried alive after being born, it would seem that Bates was present even if both twins were alive.

Well drat. I've always liked the twin theory, but you're right. Bates very well isn't a girl. x.x

The male voice is kind of a giveaway.

There is always the thought that the English might not be entirely correct in translation.
