I've heard that her real name in the Japanese version is Rin, which sort of translates into Lynn. I don't exactly know for sure, though, since I have yet to play either version of the game.

In a lot of Japanese names, "r" is pronounced as "l", so it's not impossible.

In a lot of Japanese names, "r" is pronounced as "l", so it's not impossible. In the Japanese language the "L" is said as an "R". For Example Clock Tower is about Kurroku Tawa.

I already knew about the whole "R" and "L" dispute. But I just noticed something. If they said it in Japanese. =D
"Crock Towel"

We do have a thread somewhere that lists the Japanese names of the characters. I do remember that Bates is "Shou" in the Japanese one.

Like Yu or Yuu, it's romaji (or japanese written in english letters) so it's always like that, just following the sounds.
