Ok, I had to explain this a lot of times and just to let you know here I'll put what I found out thanks to my SNES hacking abilities about the mysterious knife.
In the Super Famicom game's script, there appears to be a knife as an item. There is also a gamegenie (I think) code to have it. However this knife never really appears in the game. The fact is that this item is really useless and isn't supposed to exist in this version. Probably they wanted to put this in the game but they finally didn't because of space.
However, in the next versions of this game (for PSX, Wonderswan and Windows 95), you can get this item. The purpose of this item is to kill a zombie with it. This zombie appears in the Super Famicom version, but it never gets alive (you have to do something in the trophy room to see it)... However, in the other versions he wakes up and if you don't kill him with the knife, he kills you.

Knife-wielding psycho-child
Flaming sword of kick-ass. Too bad you don't actually get to use it.

Wow. I did not know that. I don't wanna try it out, though. So that was the purpose of the knife...

In the versions where you could find it, you need to use its to kill a zombie in the trophy room. In the Super Famicom version, if I remember correctly, this zombie appears if you check part where the zombie is, in the trophy room (I remember it was something in the left of the room), then leave the trophy room, and then reenter it and check it again. In the Super Famicom version it doesn't wake up, but in all others it does and you have to kill him with the knife in order to survive.

Where do you find this knife? ^^() I want to see this zombie scene but I don't want to get eaten because I don't have the means to kill it. ^^()

I believe that HUMAN intentionally wanted to use the Bronze Dagger, but canned it for the SFC version and later made a usage for it in the PS version.
There are also some unused dialogue and other random items found if you hack it with a Pro Action Replay device.

Unused dialog huh? Interesting... Could they not fit it into the sfc one I wonder, or they just didn't want it for whatever reason.

The same is apparently true with Rule of Rose.
