Having trouble with the "First Fear" A ending...

I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

I get the perfume.
I get the black cloak.
I don't run into Mary in the telephone room.
I let one of my friends live.
I see Lotte at the end of the hallway in the caves.
I go through the game the way I'm supposed to to get the SNES version "A" ending...

But then I click on the 3rd floor in the elevator and Scissorman jumps down and kills me.

Can someone please help me, and tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Did you trigger the scene where Jennifer sees her dead father? If not, then that's about the only thing stopping you from getting the "A" ending.

It's at the east end of the west wing hallway, 2nd floor. You'll most likely encounter Bobby there so be careful.

Hmmm...I don't think I did. I'm unsure. I'll do everything again just to make sure...maybe that's what I'm doing wrong.

I keep getting the SNES version and TFF mixed up, so that might be why I'm having so much trouble getting the "A" and "S" endings.

Generally, all versions have been dubbed "The First Fear" by US fans, to avoid confusion. I'm pretty sure getting the ending should be the same in both versions.

Well, in the First Fear for the PS, there are actually extra things to do to get certain things (like killing the zombie to get the key to the crow room, for example) that you didn't have to do in the original SNES version...

and when I try to get endings just like the SNES version, I die. So I'm thinking that they changed the way to get the endings a bit on purpose so as to keep SNES players from not having any challenge this time around.

...I dunno...just my theory, I guess.

Next time I play CT: TFF (When Heather isn't playing PSU) I'll try saving my dad and getting everything else as per normal and see how it goes.
