Okay, I know I should really post this in SyberiaWinx' SH forum, but it seems rather dead, so...
There really is a Silent Hill for PSP. But I have some questions (for both PSP and non-PSP owners)
1.) Do you really think that they can pull off a porto-scare? 2.) Think SH's gameplay and tasty graphics will be severely hampered by PSP's limitations? 3.) Are you getting it? If you're not a PSP owner, would you get it if you had one?
and a #4, because I really wanted to ask this: If you can only get a new PSP/DS game once every 6 or so months, will you get it above everything else?
Thanks much!

1. Nope. That's one of the reasons I hate horror games being put on handhelds.
2. The graphics should be okay. Never played the PSP, so can't say anything about the gameplay.
3. I would if I had a PSP
All in all, I HATE when one game in a series is put on a handheld, forcing you to play it. They did it with Kingom Hearts and Resident Evil as well.>.<

Hmm... good point. Resident Evil DS wasn't very good and felt more like an action game than a horror game. Thanks for the reply!

Considering I scare easily (resident evil DS made me jump here and there) it will probably be scary for me, I don't know. We'll have to see how it turns out, hopefully konami can prove that a horror game can be scary on psp, I hope. Being a fan I will purchase it (I already have a psp now I just need to get the game when it comes out). I do know it will be better than that resident evil gaiden game...ughhh...

heh, RE Gaiden... you know, that game actually scared me (scared as in scared, not scared as in scared of gameplay). Lol.
But strangely, other REs don't send the slightest quiver through me.

RE gaiden, scare you! Impossible. There isn't even any sound, just annoying sounding music. Well, there is a very soft moan from the zombies, but that's it.

1. I think it's possible, though you'd really have to work with the subject a bit. Shock value may be toned down a bit, though I'm sure there are psychological approaches that can be taken (kinda like with Eternal Darkness). It'll be hard, but possible none the less.
2. It really depends on what approach they take with it. Given how the PSP is more than capable of pumping out PS1 graphics, the first game would be a cakewalk. The system is suppose to able to deliver some PS2 abilities as well, though I've yet to see anything really deliver as much. Overall, I'm sure it's possible, but it'd be better if it had it's own graphic tricks.
3. I might get it, though I already have enough things on my pallet. Already picked up the UMD Video "Silent Hill Experience", so I guess I already have half of the PSP's Silent Hill library (a third if you count the movie).
4. Only if it's worth getting.
As a side note, Resident Evil isn't survival horror anymore. It's an action series, and will never re-enter the realm of horror.

I think Resident Evil is still a survival-horror, but that's for another topic.
