I think the problem is that capcom adds to much of a whimsical magical element to the game. I think like others have said its a capcom thing. Theyve gone to far off in the fantasy element and seem to have forgotten its horror particularly slasher roots.
I mean sure the original story is kind of a mess, getting tangled in its own contrived plot holes (I mean how old is scissorman any way) and other unanswered questions.

I'd be interested in hearing and maybe helping to clear up these plot holes you speak of. Why not make a thread about them in the appropriate section?

The next clock tower game (as well as the movie) needs to be about scissorman!
That *CENSORED* was WAYYYY better than the games that didn't include him.

I agree with the magical element part. It doesn't exactly ruin the game, but after using that magic arrow in the boss battle it made me feel that less helpless. And this is a type of game thats scare is based on being helpless.
If there was a CT4, how would the bosses be dealt with? How were they defeated for good in previous games?

In previous games there weren't any 'boss fights' really, more like levels; in FF there's bobby, mrs. Mary and Dan, you have to survive till you reach a point in the game where they play cutscenes/ fmv. the 'boss battles' are cutscenes/ fmv.
the ps CT (CT2 in JP) well, I never really defeated scissorman, but I think you use an item.
in STW / GH it's levels. a chapter contains it's own boss (and a few zombies, but they're not bosses eh?) and you use items at a certain point in the game and an fmv plays.
You don't really 'fight' in previous games, just 'use'. That's probably why I think HG is so great; at least fiona has the decency to kick or push.

Guys, please create new threads instead of starting off-topic discussions in other ones.^^;

I thought I was being on-topic. This thread says Clock Tower 4 ideas, and we're trying to come up with them. To do that we kind of have to refer to the other games to decide how we want it to change.

This is for general ideas. You guys are kind of drifting off into a discussion about gameplay, which might be better suited to another thread, like the admin said. Why not make a topic? Oh, why wait? I'll do it!
