While I'm definitely against censorship of video games, I do agree that minors shouldn't be getting their hands on games like the ones listed in the article. So my thoughts on it would be : Don't alter the content, but enforce the rules about not selling M-rated games to the kids. Though I probably would have said differently when I was underage. Still, between censorship or keeping sale of a game to the 18+ crowd, I'd opt for the latter, as it's the lesser of two evils.

right on, AquaSky. But then again, in other "gaming is bad" related stuff, I personally wouldn't mind beating someone within an inch of their living the next time they kill someone and blame it on videogaming.
It's just unfair. There's no solid proof that videogames turn kids to criminals. It's just that the ****ing teen can't accept the fact that he messed his life up and instead blames it on videogaming. I can recall this happened in the music industry as well (particularly against Marylin Manson and Eminem), but there was a hole discovered when the killers suspected to have been influenced by Manson do not listen to his music at all, thus turning the blame towards the lawyers.
On a very unimportant side note though, I live in the Philippines and ESRB doesn't apply here so I've played CT since I was 9, but I still believe it's unfair to assume something that would taint such an upholding way of life.

^ I could not agree more.
And did you notice that Japan, where many of these games come out in the first place, does not have this happening? If games play ANY role, it just shows that it's the parents fualt for not instilling enough sense of reality in the kids.
'Cause Japanese people play lots of the same stuff we do, do they go on a shooting spree? No. They have a good sense of what's right and what's not.
I don't think games are the problem here, people..

well, I don't know about the rest of you but -- I think this guy makes sense when he says that Clock Tower 3 would make teens want to commit crimes -- because after playing Clock Tower 3 everytime I get really mad at someone, or something... I just have this urge to dress up in my girl's school uniform, take out my sacred bottle that magically turns into a divine bow and just start shooting people with it!

If you think about it, you're right. I think it's really how the parents brough up their kids or the people around the kid. A lot of japanese people are very formal, even in a normal family there would still be a little bit of formality and respect. I wouldn't say that I am respectful, but the religion i was brought up with did give me a few good manners and habits (although, I really don't have any faith in my religion) I think it's just that people don't like to blame themselves so they blame on other things. ^ I could not agree more. It's just unfair. There's no solid proof that videogames turn kids to criminals. It's just that the ****ing teen can't accept the fact that he messed his life up and instead blames it on videogaming. I play all sorts of violent video games, Manhunt (soon to be Manhunt 2, I can't wait) the gta series, so on and so on. I don't get any ideas from them though, I mean why would I, there just games, they mean nothing in real life, it's just a way to be entertained when bored. You know, like watching TV.

I read in the local newspaper a little while back, where a man went on a hit and run spree in his car. When police caught him and arrested him, the first thing he said (in his defense) was "After playing Grand Theft Auto (GTA) for the past few weeks, I had a urge to-do it as soon as I got behind the wheel!" suggesting he couldn't control himself or something....
It's people like him, who give video games bad reps, using video games as an excuse for their actions, fueling the flame of ignorant people who already blame video games, instead of the media and as victim suggested, family and peers.

And what does elmo teach us? that our daily items, when left alone do nothing! Like seriously, they videocam items for like 5 minutes, that's wasting time and isn't good for the eyes of veiwers (mainly children). Like I know kids have wild imaginations sometimes that thisgs move, do this and that but to videocam?! GOD! And AFTERWARDS they have the same object knock on the door and say hello? *%$#@*^%$#@ !
What about BIG BIRD what kind of bird is he? an oversized canary? In one of the episodes I happen to pass by, he had a bird house that needed fixing... it was small...
And Barney, Oh, Barney!
Dinosaurs are extinct, we don't know if they were purple or not, toys do not come to life...it's not funny! and if they did, that'd be creepy. People don't sing and dance all day; even kids have their own lives; not everyone is your friend or your family take a blood test)
all these are considered 'educational' we all know now that there isn't such a thing as an orange nosed fluffy skinny ...thing. or a bird that big with purple and pink striped legs. or a purple dinosaur which magically turns into a dool and laughs menicingly after each episode!
Even kids feel deception, they have all been decieved; and when they all know it was all a lie they get angry and wanna beat the poo out of people!
Now THAT is an example of what could happen with television shows that parents might have overlooked (same effect as santa).
You might think it's ridiculous now... but we don't know what goes on in the minds of young. Take me for instance:
I wanted a baby when I was 4, I wanted to work for money since I was 7, I had my whole life 1/2 planned out when I was 7-8. I started smoking when I was 7(no worries I quited. Twice). I got interested in adult content when I was 9-11 and ongoing. I told my aunt that I wanted to be 70 when I was 3 ( I think I really meant 30, but didn't know that 70 was old, really old). And other things which would probably sound like teen drama to you...
It's not only those gangster movies people!
I used to hate it when this teacher put on this music and made everyone happily dance (4yrs old) and when I crossed my arms and refused to dance she scolded me...yeah... I wanted to just take that darn radio and stuff it into her mouth ( you might think this is quite violent for a 4 year old, but CARTOONS don't show that, CARTOONS wood show her mouth expanding at an unbelievable rate and the radio would fit nicely. You then would probably press her nose or eyes to change the channel... another related topic...CARTOONS)
Just watch TOM& JERRY, or maybe something even more recent. The grim adventures of billy and mandy or (better yet) Spongebob squarepants (HIS PANTS ARE NOT, AND I SAY NOT SQUARE! THEY ARE IN FACT CUBOID! RECTANGLE HIS WHOLE BODY IS "R-E-C-T-A-N-G-U-L-A-R" it's teaching kids the wrong things and that shouw couldn't even teach kids shapes properly!
