I agree with you on that one. Games shouldn't be blamed for people's life troubles and games have got Ratings for some reason.

I am sure everyone has heard about the 'Virginia College Massacre’? I was watching the news yesterday and found it quite amusing that the first thing that came out of the reporter’s mouth is, the effect that violence in movies, on T.V., in music and video games have on people. Saying that (especially movies) glorifies violence… A. Talk about major hypocrites! They’re glorifying violence by talking about this ‘massacre’ for the past few days “The largest massacre in US history!” are you going to tell me that someone isn’t going to look at that and think “Hmm… they think that’s big? Wait till they see what I can do!” Paraphrasing Pete Burns “I’ll be a star, now is my time to rise and shine! maybe I should get a gun; you’ll have a serial killer at #1” B. They kept replaying a tape that the guy sent in before starting with his ‘massacre’ (URL below) and I don’t know about you, but I don’t see where he mentions video games, movies, or music – it seems to me that he had a grudge that he felt could only be settled one way… through violence. I thought it was equally amusing when the ‘reporter’ started preaching about communities today. How, unlike back in the ‘good ole days’ we don’t really know people in our communities – started describing where he lived when he was younger, made it sound like Mayberry. With the friendly barber down the street who helped him fix his bike and stuff… Explaining that, because of work and different reasons we don’t really learn who surrounds us, that he feels, if someone had noticed the pent up anger and rage in this ‘youngster’ and had a talk with them, that this would most likely have been avoided. Once again, major hypocrite - it’s because of the media that people are afraid to do anything outside their safe, locked up doors – everyday you hear how kids are being kidnapped, people are being raped and murdered… they like that Americans feel they have to hide in their homes, paranoid. www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMhl7R9Ng-s

What I heard was that he wrote alot of stories, but they were not accepted and the teachers were worried and stuff.
God, same case as Hitler! (Hitler wanted to go to an art colledge, but his application was not accepted and started hating the jews a little bit more; LOOK AT WHAT HE'S DONE! NOW THAT'S HISTORY!)
Anyway I thought his speech in the video was kinda fake at the beginning but it gradually felt familiar to me. I didn't hear him talking about music, movies or games, I agree with harkonnen. He spoke of jesus and vodka and gold necklaces and trust funds and mercedes; it's like he was opposing the exact kinds of people that paranoid people keep saying he was inspired to; he seems poetic.
It's damn bullies if you ask me; bullying always creates problems.

you make a good point, his teacher was scared by his poems and stories of murder and death - apparently she spoke to him once about them, saying that they weren't appropriate and ultimately (because they scared her) had him removed from the class...
It was also noticed by both faculty members and students that he withdrew himself from people - wouldn't interact with other...
I think the blood on his hands could be shared almost equally with the faculty - you'd think that his odd behavior and these stories would've sent up major red flags.

You let a writer with violent imagination write freely and he becomes a success result?=Steven Spielburg .Now, you prevent the writer to express himself result= he becomes inspiration for movies and stories about or has revelance to school massacres ; Just watch the movies 'Elephant' and ' Pretty persuasion'
Theyre both great movies in my opinion. PP is a dark comedy though.

But does what one writes really mean they are a bad person? It is not always reflect the way they themselves feel. I write many stories where people-often small children-are brutally murdered or commit murder. I would never murder anyone though, nor do I enjoy such a thing happening.

Hmm, I'm sure, at one point or another, Ed Gein said that he didn't like the idea of cutting people up, wearing their skin as clothes and using their bones as furniture. In the novel Psycho, at the beginning of the book Norman Bates is reading about a African tribe that would use a strange technique in order to preserve their dead - he shuddered at the thought, and thought it was barbaric…

If you don't get these homicidal urges out through writing, playing games, movies, etc You might take them out in real life. Video games are potentially saving lives.

A wise person once said "Don't take life too seriously. You'll never get out alive." words to think about.

Consider this your second warning: stop it.
